The Challenge:

We were tasked with designing and developing an interactive, on-line program for calculating the impacts of various modes of to and from school transportation. Goals included

• a calculation methodology that determined distance, mode of travel, and derived fuel use and cost, Greenhouse gas emissions through automobile use and calories burned through walking and biking.
• a fun and intuitive user interface
• a means to allow users to develop a "what if" scenario
• a means of tracking results and trends over time at personal, classroom, school, school district and province levels

The Client:

The Environmental Education Action Program Society (EEAP) and the British Columbia Government including the Ministries of Environment, Education, Transportation, Community Health and Sport, and the Climate Change Secretariat.
